We help you decide on the best governance model

A major trip hazard for traditional mental health first aid programmes can be the failure to consider role description, points of next support and other governance beforehand.

Why governance matters

Governance is a major issue in mental health first aid programmes and the reason many of them are not having the impact they should.

We believe this element is so crucial it’s integrated it into our service.

Naming your programme

We will adapt our badges and certificates to reflect the name of the programme in your organisation.

Current options are:

First Aider for Mental Health

Mental Health First Aider

Wellbeing Ambassador

Mental Health First Aid for Managers

Why do we offer Highfield Mental Health First Aid Course?

This internationally recognised qualification was developed in partnership with HWC (and peer-reviewed) and Highfields and is workplace-focused. It examines boundaries and the distinction between a manager and a first aider role.

What will those taking part achieve?

A workplace wellbeing ambassador is not clinically qualified to assess, diagnose, or treat mental ill-health. Still, they will have the basic tools to spot the signs that someone is struggling, listen non-judgmentally and signpost them for further support.

These roles are developed as part of an overall wellbeing strategy.

It’s worth noting that these programmes can look quite different depending on the organisations’ approach or how proactive or reactive they want the role to be. We are happy to talk to you about this.
