Introduction to ISO45003

What is ISO45003?

ISO45003 is a global standard published by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) in 2021, titled “Occupational health and safety management — Psychological health and safety at work — Guidelines for managing psychosocial risks.”

It provides guidelines for organisations to identify, assess and manage psychosocial risks in the workplace. Psychosocial risks are defined as factors that can cause stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues, such as excessive workload, harassment, bullying, and lack of support.

The ISO45003 standard aims to help organisations create a safe and healthy work environment that promotes the psychological well-being of their employees and to prevent and manage work-related psychological injuries and illnesses. It provides a framework for implementing a psychosocial risk management program, including risk assessment, intervention, and evaluation.

What does the Course aim to achieve?

Partnering up with HWC, Peter Kelly, former senior psychologist at HSE, has helped us design a, 3 hour course on how to perform a Stress or Psychosocial Risk Assessment, setting it within the context of ISO45003 so that you also know how to approach that standard should you chose to operate in line with it.

Psychosocial risks are defined as factors that can cause stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues, such as excessive workload, harassment, bullying, and lack of support. It is a requirement under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 to perform an organisational stress risk assessment.

ISO45003, meanwhile, is a global standard published by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) in 2021, titled “Occupational health and safety management — Psychological health and safety at work — Guidelines for managing psychosocial risks.”

This Healthy Work Company course sets organisational stress risk within the context of ISO45003 and is relevant whether you just wish to perform your legal requirements or you also wish to operate in line with this new standard.
